The Lumberland Fire Dept. Inc. proudly
covers the entire Town of Lumberland in Sullivan Co., NY. for Fire and
Ambulance protection. It is dedicated to protecting the lives and property
of the citizens of Lumberland. It's a rural area of approx. 50 sq. miles
with a population of about 1500.
The Fire Dept. was
founded in 1951. The History of the Fire Dept. and Auxiliary can be found on
this site.
We cover about 12
miles of the Delaware River, now part of the National Park System, several
lakes, smaller rivers and streams.
The main firehouse is
on Rt. 31 in Glen Spey and a substation on Hollow Rd. Pond Eddy, NY. The
Dept. operates with approx. 30 members, of those 10 are EMT's and 5 are EMT-D's.
The Ambulance and the KME Rescue\Pumper are NY State certified.
The Dept. responds, on
average, to 200+ calls yearly. A large percentage are EMS, the remainder are
Fire and Rescue calls.
